Feather Fan Staves?

Does anyone have ideas for making your own wooden fan staves? I have been looking online for them but they run kind of expensive and it doesn't look too hard to make. Just not sure where to start....

i want to make a pop out cake

hahaha about the caps and i would like to be able to use it more than once. It's for a big birthday party/show that I'm doing but I would like to keep it for later performances also.

I'm a Burlesque performer from Jacksonville, FL. Currently, I am performing with a troupe that I've sort of put together called the VIP Vixens. I'm a part time student studying graphic arts but don't get the same thing from it as I do with performing. I just love dressing up and feeling glamorous :)
